Running has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember.
My dad was part of the first running boom in the US in the 1970s, and my entire childhood was spent going to races. I ran my first 5K in 1980 at the age of 5 and my first 10K at the age of 9.
I ran my first marathon while I was in graduate school in 1998, because I needed something to focus on other than writing my thesis.
While a young professional living in Boston, I joined a self-coached running club and learned the science of training cycles and racing. (I also ran the Boston Marathon all four years I lived in The Hub.)
Little did I know that my lifelong love of running would become my work and my passion.
In 2006, I founded Balance Personal Fitness Training, LLC after friends told me I needed to charge them for my expertise in helping them train. I earned my personal trainer certification and other health coaching and fitness credentials.
I continued to train and run marathons (and ultras) in between birthing and raising my three kids and building my personal training and health coaching business.
But running has remained my passion.
Marathon Finish Line is here to share my two-plus decades of marathon wisdom. I’m excited to have an outlet to share my marathon training tips, hacks, and insights to help you learn more about yourself than you’ve ever known before.
Running a marathon is a journey unlike any other.
So lace up your shoes, and let’s get you to 26.2!
